Now Alibaba has released a new model in the Qwen family built specifically for coding tasks. These models are designed to understand programming structure better, follow instructions more accurately, and help with things like debugging, building scripts, or even generating full small projects. They also include multimodal capabilities, meaning the model can understand images and other inputs alongside text. If you’ve been curious about using AI to actually build things, this model is a great place to start.
For the version included here, I packaged a Q3 quantized GGUF build so it runs on a wide range of machines. The goal is to make this usable for the average local AI setup without requiring huge amounts of VRAM or RAM.
If you have a stronger system, you can absolutely run higher-precision versions. Tools like KoboldCPP make it easy to load other quants or full models if you want more accuracy or speed.
This is a simple way to get started with local AI coding assistance without turning setup into its own project.
