Piper TTS is one of the fastest ways to generate natural-sounding speech locally on your machine, and this GUI makes it even easier. Instead of relying on cloud APIs or slow voice models, Piper produces audio almost instantly and runs completely offline.
For this release, we built a Get Going Fast setup and manager app to make everything simple. The app lets you easily download voices, set up them, and remove them when you no longer need them. No dependency headaches, no manual setup, and no hunting around for model files.
Run Piper directly to generate speech from text. This is perfect for quick voice generation, narration, testing voices, or creating audio files. Server features can still be activated from standalone mode if needed.
Run Piper as a local TTS server. This lets other programs send text and receive audio, making it ideal for bots, assistants, and apps that need a voice.
Even when running standalone, the server can still be activated if you want to connect other tools. The dedicated server option is simply a cleaner setup for apps that will always use Piper as an API backend.
Because everything runs locally, generation is extremely fast and your text never leaves your machine.
